Ran Wang, Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Wang co-founded China eCapital Corporation along with several partners in April 2000 in Beijing and has since led the firm to become one of the most dynamic and reputable private investment banks in China.

Over the past few years, Mr. Wang has personally led deal teams to serve a number of high-profile clients including both multinationals such as Microsoft, Siemens, and SK Telecom, as well as local market leaders such as Goodbaby, Dazhong Electronics, Hunan TV, Sina, Netease, Beijing News, Huayi Brothers, Enlight Media, and Hurray.

Prior to founding China eCapital Corporation in 2000, Mr. Wang had spent the previous three years with Global Mergers & Acquisitions of JP Morgan Chase, where he was responsible for developing and executing a number of high-profile transactions in the Asia-Pacific region. Mr. Wang's over 15 years of investment banking experience began at Goldman Sachs, where he was an associate with the Fixed Income Group.

Mr. Wang holds a bachelor degree in economics from Harvard College and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He has published extensively on corporate finance and investment banking subjects in leading Chinese financial newspapers and magazines. A frequent speaker at conferences and forums, Mr. Wang also keeps a regularly updated blog which ranks in the top third amongst Chinese business leaders.

 

Irene Tanner, Managing Director

Prior to joining China eCapital, Ms. Tanner was with Accenture's Strategic Services practice in San Francisco, focusing on electronics and technology clients. She has experience in developing market entry strategies, general strategy formulation, competitive and market analyses, potential acquisition due diligence, market structure analysis and financial modeling. She has served clients in the Internet and Technology, Consumer Retail, Financial Services, and Healthcare industries. Prior to receiving her MBA, Ms. Tanner worked as an engineer for Merck and worked on several plant start-ups, including a technology transfer project in China.

Since joining China eCapital in 2001, she has worked on several projects and transactions for many multinational and Chinese clients including TUI, SK, GW Plastics, LiNing, AsiaInfo, and Chemclin.

Ms. Tanner has both her MBA and BS in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley.

 

 
Peng Jin, Venture Partner

Mr. Jin possesses more than seven years of professional investment banking and corporate business management experience. He started his investment banking career with Bear Stearns, the sixth largest investment bank in the US, and was a core member of Bear Stearns' Asian Telecommunications & Media Group. He participated in a number of Asia-based telecommunication and Internet companies' private placements/public offerings, including China Mobile, China.com, Pacific Internet, Korea Thrunet, 8848.net and Sinobnet. Developing on his track record at Bear Stearns, Mr. Jin joined 21ViaNet, the largest privately-held network service provider in China, initially as Executive Vice President and the head of Strategic Development Group, focusing on product development, strategic planning, and international sales, and was subsequently appointed by the Board as CFO to take charge of investor relations, venture capital financing, and financial management.

Since joining China eCapital in 2003, Mr. Jin has led deal teams to serve a number of clients including Acorn International, Orient Home, Goodbaby, Redbaby, and Daqi.com, and played an important role in developing an internal training program at the firm.

Mr. Jin graduated with honor from New York University's L. Stern School of Business with a dual BS degree in Finance and Information Systems.

 

Fan Ni, Managing Director

Before joining China eCapital, Mr. Ni was a vice president at Legend Capital, the venture capital arm of Legend Holdings, where he focused on media, healthcare and consumer products and led the effort in executing a number of investment projects. Before his venture capital career, Fan was a co-founder of Noahark Management Consulting and acted as the deputy general manager. Mr. Ni began his career at Ford Motor China as a financial analyst, in which capacity he built financial models and conducted capital budgeting for several automotive projects in China.

Mr. Ni graduated with honor from Tsinghua University with an MS in finance and accounting, in addition to a dual BS degree in automotive engineering and computer science & technology.

 

Leon Zhao, Managing Director

Prior to joining China eCapital, Mr. Zhao was Director of Finance at Enlight Media Co., Ltd., the largest privately held media and entertainment company in China. At Enlight, he was primarily responsible for financial management, financing and M&A activities, as well as major business development efforts. Before joining Enlight, Mr. Zhao was a senior manager at PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where he acted as PwC's team leader for many multinational clients including Unilever, Nokia, and Lucent.

Mr. Zhao has a Bachelor degree in economics from Capital University of Business and Economics.
